Bathroom Renovation in Wauconda
Before we remodeled this bathroom, the cabinets were stock 1980s wood paneling, the sink and countertops were plain white, the tub and shower standard, with grouted tile panels around the tub area. In other words, the default features you might see in most homes from the 1980s or 1990s.
The homeowner wanted to beautify the bathroom, and upgrade some of the features. Here’s a list of what we changed:
- New shower enclosure. We constructed a new shower with walls with a faux-wood pattern. There is a recessed caddy area with an aggregate backsplash pattern. The shower base also has an aggregate pattern with different shades of square tile pieces, for visual effect. We also installed a ceiling light above the new shower for extra illumination.
- Upgraded vanity and countertops. We replaced the generic wood vanities with elegant black vanities. The plain countertops and dual sinks were replaced by a marbled countertop, dual sinks and shelving.
- Smaller secondary sink and vanity with sit-down shelf. On the opposite corner of the bathroom is a small sink and black vanity. There is also a lower marble shelf with a folding black stool underneath. This allows several people to use the bathroom without getting in each others way.
- Brand new flooring. We installed new gray wood laminate in the bathroom to fit the black, white, and gray color palette of the renovated bathroom.
- New shower head and fixtures. The old shower head needed an upgrade to a rain shower head.
