Modern Bathroom Renovation
This Elmhurst bathroom was transformed from a basic family bathroom look into a more contemporary bathroom with improved accessibility. When you look at the before and after photos, you can see the difference is quite stunning! Here are a few of the improvements we made to this bathroom.
Elmhurst Bathroom Renovation Details
- Tub to shower conversion. Originally, the tub in this upstairs bathroom was a standard rectangular alcove tub. We replaced this with a new shower, fitted with a seat, hand-held shower head, and traditional wide shower head. These improvements make it easier for all family members to get a shower. The new shower also has recessed areas for holding toiletries and shampoo.
- New flooring and decor. Like the rest of the bathroom , including the shower, the new tile flooring has a cornflower blue hexagon pattern, framed with a decorative rectangular pattern, and on white tile background. This is reminiscent of a more contemporary aesthetic.
- Replacement vanity cabinet and sinks. The old bathroom had stock oval resin sinks with a plain brown vanity supporting the sink. There was also a storage cubby directly above the toilet, which was awkward. The new bathroom replaced the old vanity cabinets with white cabinets with brushed steel farmhouse-style cabinet handles. The old cubby was replaced with a small compact cabinet for storage on top of the dual sink area. The sinks were upgraded to white deep basin sinks, with country-style custom faucet fixtures. This gives the bathroom a distinct rustic look.
- Fresh paint and decor. Previously, the old bathroom had light slate gray paint, and a stock full size rectangular mirror. In the renovated bathroom, the walls were painted a bright cornflower blue, reflecting the natural light from the window, brightening the room. Two rounded corner rustic mirrors were hung for each of the two sinks. The old kids decors was jettisoned in this updated bathroom.
